About the AreaWilton, New Hampshire is a small town in southern New Hampshire, located along the Souhegan River and New Hampshire Route 101. It is half an hour from Manchester and the Manchester Boston Regional Airport (nationwide connections), half an hour from Peterborough, forty minutes from Worcester, twenty minutes from Nashua, and an hour and fifteen minutes to two hours from Boston, depending on traffic. We have a great downtown, which features the Wilton Town Hall Theatre (first run movies and free classic films), the Melting Pot restaurant, Nelson's Candies, and many interesting stores like night-light innovator Illuminart.
In historic Wilton Center (not to be confused with the center of Wilton, or downtown), Andy's Summer Playhouse has been producing first-rate youth theater for thirty-five years. For nature lovers, there are hundreds of acres of conservation land for hiking, skiing and wildlife watching, managed by the Society for the Protection of New Hampshire Forests, the Nature Conservancy, the Wilton Conservation Commission, and the Souhegan Valley Land Trust. The Souhegan River is stocked with trout and has several inviting swimming holes, and Carnival Hill is one of many fabulous sledding hills. The area is home to numerous farms and pick-your-own orchards where you can get locally-grown produce, New Hampshire maple syrup, and even farm-made ice cream. If you're just getting familiar with Wilton, the Wilton Main Street Association is a great place to start. If you are visiting and need a place to stay, try Stepping Stones Bed and Breakfast.
